Unfortunately for Augie, that is about as festive as his birthday got :( He woke up in a pretty grumpy, screamer mood and after downing some Cheerios and pineapple for breakfast was swept off to his one year well visit at the doctor's office where he was stuck with a needle in each leg and had his toe pricked. From there it was straight home for a 2.5 hour nap (actually pretty good for him) and then up for lunch and hanging out with his siblings while his mom tore through the playroom like a mad woman trying to decide which toys were actually played with and which could be tossed. It rained all morning and afternoon so we never made it outside which is his favorite place to be. Poor kid. Even the exciting event of receiving a bouquet of balloons from his Weeta and Pop Pop was sabotaged by Elek and B as they immediately snatched them out of the hands and wildly beat them like punching bags. He did, however, get to go on an evening bike ride with his daddy, Elek, and B, while mommy attempted to clean up some of the mess that her playroom rampage had created. Don't worry though, he will have a little celebration tomorrow when his Weeta and Pop Pop come in town and Gigi joins us in the evening for pizza (one of Augie's favs) and his first very own slice of cake!
Crap! The stinking video won't upload. Basically it just shows Elek, B, and I singing happy birthday to Aug as we walk in the door and him repeatedly getting angry that I am not taking him out of the crib and screaming at the top of his lungs. Then it shows as Elek and B try to steal his spotlight by showing off their jumping skills and what not. Pretty typical....
To Augie when you are old enough to read and understand this: I love you very much and I am sorry that your first birthday was so pitiful! But I promise I will make it up to you by giving you at least one kick ass birthday when you are old enough to remember them. Besides, first birthdays parties are way over-rated anyway. They are usually just thrown for cute photo ops and an excuse for parents to sneak in some adult time with their friends. I'm just being honest here. Anyways, I LOVE YOU AUGIE POGGY PUDDIN' 'N PIE!
